About Thunder

Club Overview
Thunder is a non-profit, volunteer-run club that was founded in 2000 to provide an opportunity for athletes to participate in volleyball for both the pursuit of excellence and the enjoyment of the sport.
We are proud of our close association with the UBC Thunderbird women’s volleyball program. Four former Thunder club players are currently playing on the UBC Thunderbird team. In recent years the 18&U Girls Hi-Performance team has practiced with the UBC Thunderbird team. UBC Thunderbird team members coach in our 13&U Train & Play program, and help out in other club programs.

We aim to help participants develop as players and individuals. We strive to build strong club teams, and in turn, to contribute to the ongoing development of school volleyball in Vancouver.

Club Overview

The Vancouver Thunder Volleyball Club is a non-profit, volunteer-run club that was founded in 2000 to provide an opportunity for athletes to participate in volleyball for both the pursuit of excellence and the enjoyment of the sport.

The club’s direction is led by notables such as former Olympic Volleyball Team Canada player, Claire Lloyd, and current Head Coach of the four-time National CIS champions UBC Thunderbirds Women’s Varsity Volleyball team, Doug Reimer.

We are proud of our close association with the UBC Thunderbirds women’s volleyball programFormer Thunder club players who have played with the UBC Thunderbirds include Katie Tyzuk, Liz Cordonier, Jen Hinze, Lauren Whitehead and the current Libero, Briana Lau Kent.
