UBC THUNDER BEACH 2025
We are excited to announce our Thunder Beach summer dates! Our summer beach programs are meant to provide flexibility to families (as we understand summer is a time for families to spend time together) while still providing high performance training to those who want to continue with a focus on beach volleyball throughout the summer! Please note that these programs are intended for those who have some volleyball experience (beach and/or indoor) we will only be able to provide a beginner option if we have enough interest.
Why Thunder Beach?
Key aspects of our program philosophy are:
- Top Tier Coaching: We have solidified a strong group of experienced and returning coaches for the spring and summer. We ensure a small coach athlete ratio to enhance learning and individual attention.
- High Performance training and support: We are expanding to provide elite programming for those with the skill and interest in competitive beach with additional physical and mental training. We group courts by ability and age.
- Cross-training and entry-level training: Indoor focused players with limited time can benefit from beach training. Younger players with little or no beach experience can learn beach and improve their indoor skills. Our schedule is set up to provide athletes the opportunity to include other activities and recovery from the club season.
- Fun and Competition: Create an enjoyable learning environment and the chance to connect with players and coaches.
- Value and flexibility: Players can train 1, 2 or 3 days a week, especially as they recover from the indoor season. We recognize the costs continue to rise for competitive athletics and we aim to keep our fees reasonable. Please contact Brenda Chinn if you have any financial concerns. blchinn@telus.net

Flexible Summer Beach Training
This beach training program is geared towards those athletes who would like to continue with beach training while not being able to commit to a full summer. We will have flex options available (3 pack or 5 pack) as well as the option to drop in on a daily basis depended on the age group training offered that day. Please click on the age-appropriate registration link below to register for this option.
Please note, if an athlete does not use all of their beach training sessions there are no refunds given so, please only sign up for what you believe you can commit to.
Sessions begin the week of June 30 and end the week of August 7
General Information
- Players are grouped by ability level and age. Groups can change over the spring/summer.
- You can train with a partner but you do not need a partner at any level.
- We attempt to provide flexibility around start-up / club Nationals and during summer.
- Spring training times all start at 4:15 and vary in length by age.
- We are looking to order gear for the upcoming beach season! More information will be provided soon!
- All training sessions are at Spanish Banks East courts (near the foot of Tolmie St.)

U12/U13 Training Sessions
This program will give athletes the opportunity to train up to 2 days per week. Signing up with a partner is not required, but if you have been training and playing with a few individuals then this will be taken into consideration when making courts. Please note: while we will try to offer a beginner court for U12 and U13 this will be dependent on the number of beginner athletes registered.
U12/U13 Dates:
When: Mondays and Thursdays 4:15-5:45
Location: Spanish Banks East volleyball courts (bottom of Tolmie Road)

This program will give athletes the opportunity to train up to 3 days per week! Athletes who are able to commit to the program will continue with their twice a week training with the option to add a third day! Signing up with a partner is not required, but if you have been training and playing with a few individuals then this will be taken into consideration when making courts.
U14 Dates:
When: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:15-6:00pm *No session July 1*
Location: Spanish Banks East volleyball courts (bottom of Tolmie Road)
