13U Head Coach

Jodi is currently one of the assistant coaches for the UBC women’s volleyball varsity team. She has been coaching club volleyball for approx. 15 years now and have coached teams at all age groups. Jodi has coached for provincial teams in both Ontario and BC. For her playing career, she was a member of the Trinity Western Spartans team. Jodi also played beach volleyball and have coached all ages on the beach as well, coaching summer games teams and running an elite beach program alongside her husband in Ontario.

Danika Cowie

14U Head coach

Danika played for the UBC Thunderbirds between 2018 and 2022 after her club days at Thunder Volleyball Club. She is a 3 x National Champion, having won 2 with Volleyball Canada and 1 U SPORTS Championship. Danika has coached for five years between developmental and performance groups, and previously coached the 13U age group last season. She also has experience ad Training Director with Bridge Athletics, and is currently a Business Management Masters student at UBC.

Kylie Brezsnyak

14U Assistant Coach

Kylie is a trained developmental coach going into her 3rd season with Thunder. She has 6+ years experience coaching at the developmental level throughout BC and Alberta. As an athlete, Kylie played 8 years of club in Calgary, rounding out her finals years with MRU Junior Cougars volleyball club. Kylie is finishing up her kinesiology degree at UBC, hoping to educate young players on what it means to be an athlete on and off the court.

15U Head coach

Craig Moore (aka CMoore), coached his first Volleyball team when he was 16 years old (21 years ago). He currently coaches High School, Indoor Club and Beach Volleyball. He is an NCCP Advanced development coach indoor, a NCCP Performance coach on the beach. In 2018 his 18U Thunder team won the National Championships, and his Sideout Beach Volleyball teams have won 30 Provincial and National medals in the last 4 seasons.

15U Head coach

Joel grew up in White Rock and began playing volleyball at 16. He attended University at Thompson Rivers University and UBCO where he played Middle Blocker. Following University he played 2 seasons professionally in Sweden and Denmark. Joel is currently still playing professional beach volleyball and works full time as a physiotherapist in Vancouver. Joel is also currently an assistant coach for the UBC men’s varsity team

17U Head Coach

Sean Sanderson, or Sandy as he’s known, has been coaching with thunder since 2016. He won a provincial championship while coaching thunders U16 white team in 2019. He’s an advanced development coach indoors and a performance coach on the sand. If you ever attend UBC Thunderbirds games he’s the voice you hear in the stadium, he’s also the voice of the Vancouver open at kits beach!

18U Head Coach

Tova has been coaching development and high performance volleyball for 7 years with several different athlete groups from around the province. She coached in Nanaimo while playing in the CCAA for VIU (for a then 3-time National Championship team, now 5-time!!). She has been coaching with Thunder for 2 years. She is also currently the assistant coach at the Richmond Oval Regional Excellence Program.
